Avatar Great Western Tetrapteron

This is one of my creature concepts in Ubisoft's game, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. I enjoy the collaboration with our team members for this piece. Thanks to David Clement for the design of the pattern, thanks to Xu Jie for the design of the body, and Thanks to Rafa Zabala for the modeling. I did the design of the head and the final refinement of other details. After that, I did the illustration.

The Great Western Tetrapteron, found in Pandora's Western Frontier, is a larger version of the common Tetrapteron with a split beak perfect for finding food like krill and small shrimp in riverbeds and swamps. It has teeth for cutting through crustaceans and big fish. These creatures fly in groups of five to 10 for safety, alerting each other to predators. Predators like Stormgliders and banshees hunt them. The Na’vi use their wings for drums and their beaks for bowls and tools.
