Avatar Moon Scarab

The Moonscarab is a giant insect with a wingspan larger than a human adult, but it's more intimidating in appearance than actually dangerous. Its large, delicate wings allow it to fly with its body upright, looking as though it's standing in mid-air. The noise from its wings is loud and continuous, leading the Aranahe people to jokingly compare noisy individuals to Moonscarabs, and Zeswa hunters to use Moonscarab-inspired nicknames for the less discreet among them. Moonscarabs are usually solitary, but sometimes a female may take care of orphaned young. Despite their size and being easy targets for predators, their careful nature and protective instincts help their populations remain strong on Pandora.
